What’s in My Travel Bag

Traveling is truly an art. I am not talking about actually like traveling when you get to a destination but literally traveling to the destination. Flying is simply put not everyone’s cup of tea. I get it. It’s stressful, overwhelming and sometimes uncomfortable. I personally don’t mind the being thousands of feet up in the sky at insane speeds thing but more the comfortability of it that gets me sometimes. Traveling is exhausting to begin with if you are truly adventuring so I mean the last thing you want is a horrible flight. Although we can’t control the circumstances there are some small things I bring to make my flights as pleasant as they can be.

*FOR THE NIGHT SHIFTERS*
I book flights according to my sleep. Okay hear me out I know this sounds odd but it helps. I try to first and foremost sleep as much as I can on airplanes. I do this by booking flights for times when I am tired. For example I am a night shift nurse and I’ll often leave for a trip after my 3rd shift in a row. I’ll get off at 8 AM and book a flight for 10:30 or 11 AM so I sleep the entire flight since I’m exhausted. It works. Book flights when your most tired.

First my holy grail my perfect travel bags, big and small.

Small: Small bookbag

Large: Large bookbag I use this one for 3-7 day trips!

◦ reusable water bottle (smaller foldable one): Hiking water bottle
◦ snacks (chez mix, granola bar, fruit)
◦ travel pillow (clip on): Pillow
◦ travel blanket: Blanket
◦ book
◦ airpods & normal headphones
◦ portable charger: Charger
◦ all chargers
◦ ipad with downloaded movies, youtube vids, podcasts
◦ iphone with downloaded music
◦ camera (and film camera): Film camera
◦ gum, hand sanitizer wipes, chapstick hand lotion
◦ “freshen up kit” (hydrating mask, mini makeup wipes, tinted spf lotion, mascara, deodorant, dry shampoo, brush, mini perfume, toothbrush and toothpaste)
◦ I know I sound like i’m 90 when I say this but compression socks. I wear them every shift as a nurse and I will have varicose veins. Wear them on long flights over 4 hours: Socks
◦ TMI but tampons and 1 pair of extra panties
◦ all medications (if the airline loses your luggage you don’t want them to lose those!)
◦ sunnies
◦ emergency #s name and address
◦ umbrella: Umbrella
◦ small first aid kit: First aid
◦ small purse
◦ jewelry

And that is quite literally everything I carry in my travel bag! I like to be semi prepared for long short flights, delays and emergencies. Let me know if this helped anyone! I know for me at least it took a while to curate the perfect travel bag set up so I wanted to make this simple and straight to the point:)
